Charming. Sophisticated. Picturesque. The Morris Estate is a hidden gem that has a history of hospitality. This almost century-old property is surrounded by incredibly beautiful pieces of nature on 1,000 acres of farmland alongside the St. Joseph River. This venue is home to a breathtaking chapel to host your wedding ceremony year-round, a spacious cathedral tent for your reception May through October, and a luxurious bed and breakfast to extend your wedding weekend! A Brief History of The Morris Estate

The Morris Estate began as Morris Farms – 1,000 acres purchased by local businessman Ernest Melvin Morris in the 1930s. Over the following decades, the Morris family built many structures and meeting places on the property, including The Chapel, a ceremony site originally built for his daughter’s wedding. In 2010, the Janowski Family purchased the land and made modern renovations while preserving the farm’s rich history and quaint charm. The new owners have made every effort to continue the legacy of hospitality and generosity at The Morris Estate.

Features

The Morris Estate is a huge property offering so many amazing, different spaces to take photos to fit your vibe, including the chapel, fields, forests, bridges, along the river, and more!

The Estate is about 10-15 minutes from the Indiana border, perfect for Indiana brides or family.

The Chapel actually has chapel bells that function, and every bride and groom get to ring them after they get married. Such a cute tradition!

The River House - a bed & breakfast that offers luxurious suites - as well as two cabins, are available onsite for you to stay. This is so convenient for your wedding party, out-of-town family and friends, or even a place for your wedding night!

Ceremony & Reception Acommodations

The Chapel, built in 1938, is a ceremony site that is beautiful and bright, but still provides that small-church feel. It can seat up to 180 guests in church pews. Modern amenities have been added, so don’t worry about A/C or heat (depending on what season you’re getting married in!), an integrated sound system, indoor restrooms, or wifi.

It also includes the best bridal room I’ve seen so far, which boasts vanities for hair & makeup, a 360° mirror room, a sitting area with coffee and water, and more. It even has a great groom’s room too!

Receptions are conveniently held right outside of The Chapel in a woodland setting on the riverfront. The Tent venue is available from the last week of April to the first week of November. The Tent has a 250 guest capacity and is part of a complimentary Premium Package that includes cocktail and dining tables, chairs, linens, basic place settings, lighting, a dance floor, and even more.

Cost Considerations

Morris Catering offers in-house food and bar. There’s a list of Preferred Vendors on their website under the “Planning” tab.

Access to their decor inventory is included in the Premium Package, but there’s also a catalog of specialty decor and rentals available. Make sure you check it out!

Other Considerations

The Chapel ceremony site is available year round, but the Tent Venue for receptions is not available during the winter months.

There’s free parking down the road and a golf cart shuttle available to transport you and your guests.
