THE BACKSTORY

I’ve known Josh and Marleca for a few years now, we attend the same church. So when they reached out about wanting to do an Anniversary Session at Heritage Hall on Western Michigan University’s Campus, I was so excited. I’ve had the honor now of photographing these two twice. The first time was for their one-year anniversary and this second time was for their second-year anniversary.

MARRIAGE & ANNIVERSARIES

I talk about this a lot on my social media and weekly email list but you all know that marriage (not just wedding day) is so important to me. So what do you think I had to ask Josh and Marleca before their Anniversary Session? Of course, I had to ask them about marriage, but I also wanted to ask them what they hoped for from their anniversary session.

If you’re reading this and you’ve been married any length of time you know that marriage comes in seasons. Some seasons are bliss and, quite frankly, some feel like work. And we all know that in the end it shakes out (and that it’s by far one of the best gifts from the Lord) but it’s not always rainbows and butterflies as I’m sure you know.

WHAT TO GET FROM AN ANNIVERSARY SESSION

Their answer to my question brought a smile to my face. They said, “We hope that the images will reflect the contentment and unity in our marriage that the past year has brought.”

WHY HERITAGE HALL?

Not only was their session meaningful, but it was also beautiful and so fun (well, it always is)! They chose Heritage Hall for their Anniversary Session because it’s timeless and historic but gives off the most luxe vibes. They chose modern, chic, fashion-forward outfits that really paired well with Heritage Hall. CHEERS TO MORE YEARS

It was a joy to photograph Josh & Marleca’s Anniversary Session and to see their love for one another and their love for the Lord shine through. Plus, we laughed the entire time. Here’s to Josh and Marleca and another year of blissful marriage.
